Recognized by Playback as one of Canada’s "10 to Watch," Renuka is a screenwriter from Kitimat, BC.
After pivoting from finance to storytelling in 2020, she has earned credits on series including "I WOKE UP A VAMPIRE" (Netflix), "REGINALD THE VAMPIRE" (Amazon), "ALLEGIANCE" (CBC) and "CREW GIRL" (Netflix).
Beyond produced credits, she has contributed to series development in collaboration with CBC, Bell Media, and Corus Entertainment. Her current slate includes a CMF/Bell Media-supported original comedy and a horror series adapted from the work of acclaimed novelist Ray Garton.
A member of the Indo-Fijian diaspora, Renuka's storytelling explores identity, belonging, familial duty, and self-fulfillment. Her short script, PETTICOAT, which explores cultural identity through genre, was awarded the Tasveer Film Festival Short Film Fund and is co-produced under her banner, IN GOOD HANDS MEDIA.
Renuka was the only BC writer selected for the 2023 WBD Access × Canadian Academy Writers Program, is an alumna of the Pacific Screenwriting Program's Scripted Series Lab, and mentors with the Black Screen Office.
